Lens Quality Polymers

Many of the systems that MPR uses to control hydrolysis and oxidation are also relevant to minimizing the effects of processing on degradation on the molecular structure that can cause imperfections in the optical nature of a molded part. MPR manufactures critical lens grade parts for the US Airforce, ITW and Inprint Plus to name a few.

To start, Sodick molding machines, with their unique non-reciprocating injection unit, are the best lens processing machines available.

The Sodick plasticizing unit’s design provides an extremely uniform melt condition while elimination backflow and check ring degradation. The result is a contaminant free (black spec free) molded product for visual or optical grade applications.

Also, Sodick’s patented front-loading material feed method supplies a new fresh charge of material to the plunger face for each shot. The result is reduced weld line and visual improvements. This technology is particularly critical for ophthalmic lenses and lighting applications.
